I just received a "special" birthday message exclusively for me from Brett Favre.

Or...it would be "exclusively" for me if I were Duane Frisbie. I've been receiving emails for random Duane's - or not even Duane's! - for some time now...all to my regular gmail address. Apparently the registration process for getting a gmail account is not so airtight and duplication free as we've been led to believe.

Back to Brett - I have to admit I was mildly disappointed at the amount of clothes he's wearing and the tight focus on the upper portion of his body. Maybe - had the message truly been an exclusive one to me, Duane ROGGENDORFF - it might have been of an altogether different nature after all. That said, (and given I've already seen the Favre "goods") I'm not terribly disappointed with the "special" message actually sent.

Well...not terribly disappointed there's no money shot, but in terms of content and effort? This shit is LAME! Maybe it means next to nothing to me because a) it's not my birthday/isn't actually to me, and b) I'm not a big sports fan...or a big enough fan of anyone really to put much stock in a two second greeting from my "idol" on my birthday, but does this work for people? Do any of you loyal FYF readers buy into this stuff and,  if so (or even if not), can you explain it so I understand why it's meaningful?

What if I have some as yet undiagnosed form of Asberger's Syndrome that renders sports meaningless and unintelligible to me?

This weekend: Geminis must be twins or how else could there be so many!?

Birthdays, birthdays, BIRTHdays are what's happening, people! That's all this weekend seems to be scheduled with! I sound like I'm grousing, but - truth be told - happy birthday all you geminis! Especially my sister Tai Chi and other FYF loves: Solomon Greene, Eldin Johnston, Brian Toynes, Jason Anthony, Bill Pfeiffer and every other Gemini having their birthday party THE SAME FUCKING DAY (Saturday, in case you were wondering.)! Big love, duos! Being with you always feels like a threesome! And yes, each of those links are to an event page for their respective parties.

Tai's party will be in Central Park's Sheep Meadow like last year and promises to be a relaxing, fun-filled time (primarily because I'm in charge. See?). Meanwhile down at the docks, sorry...piers, Jason Anthony is - true to his twinned sign - pulling double-duty by hosting a good-hearted flash mob/love-in prior to his birthday lounge-on-the-grass that afternoon. Bring a song, a white t-shirt and a heart filled with love, 'k?

Tonight, as another Gemini enters his 30s (Happy Birthday Greg Lockard!), Viva Ruiz and Gavin Russom perform together as The Crystal Ark at Sugarhill Disco in Brooklyn for what promises to be a MAJOR night of music and performance. Also, Alberto Cortes makes music with his body.

There's also Clubber Down Disco (It's Honey's birthday, too!), a SPANK boatride and Mister Saturday Night tomorrow night and Folsom Street East Sunday, (just naming a few) so there's plenty to do regardless of how many Gemini's you know. The dancing baby turns fifteen this year.

Perhaps you remember when computers finally found a place in the every home at the burgeoning days of the Internet.  There were silly things that would be sent around.  Pictures would take forever to load.  Porn was more a picture and word thing than a video (or live-action cam) thing.  Then at some point Baby Cha-Cha arrived to you.

He was one of the first things to ever go viral.  He was one of the first memes.  He was one of the first things to arise from computer culture and land on mainstream television.  Once your "Ally McBeal"-watching friends saw him, it was official:  The Internet was going to show you a world of redonkulous things.

Oh, perhaps today is the one year anniversary of the launch of this website?  We should have thrown a party of something.  Or at least coordinated outfits today.  Cheeers and thanks for reading!

When someone you love has lots of work done, you just have to comment.

After three years of renovation, the New York Public Library finally reveals its revitalized face, with fewer cracks and much whitening applied.  (If those hideous towers at 42nd and 6th could just be photoshopped out, this would be all the more improved.)  If you've never been inside, it is one of the city's most gorgeous public spaces and well worth a few hours of exploration.

Speaking of birthdays...

Some good buddies of FYF are celebrating this weekend and just so happen to be hosting parties that all our readers are welcome to attend! How generous! Unfortunately, all hell is breaking loose in the computer/Google Calendar/my work email world and nothing works right, so the FYF Calendar is (finally) fully, freshly fucked (Update: er...I think I got it sorted?). Because of this, I'll be going old school and hot-linking parties to their Facebook invites in the posts to follow (and this one...and the previous one about Sugar Daddy.).

But back to friends' birthdays...

First, Mr. Erick Ruales turns a dry-aged and mellow 34 on the dancefloor at Clubber Down Disco under the Chelsea Hotel and hosted by FYF Sister Tai Chi and La Ladyfag...spun right 'round by Ms. Honey Dijon!

Come Sunday, Mr. Desi Santiago a/k/a Desi Monster will return to his "disco dungeon" at Vandam where La Lady hosts once again and he and DJ Will Automagic celebrate their birthdays in conjunction with Vandam's 3rd Anniversary (Shocked it's been that long!?).

Today's weather and fashion forecast - Tuesday, September 21, 2010

Inspiration comes today from a famous party girl, known for her love of colorful fashion and odd personal affiliations.  Also?  Today is her birthday.  (No, this isn't about Duane, who also has a birthday today, although these two are alike in perhaps too many ways.)  Ms. Nicole Richie was a fashion template in the early part of this odd century, and she kept people worrying.  "Does she party too much?  Should she be hanging out with those party girls?  I hear she isn't speaking to her best friend!  Is she anorexic?"  (Again, this isn't about Duane.)  Ms. Richie turned out okay in the end though, landing a husband and having kids and just having a simple life.  Today, remind people why they worry about you from time to time.  Skip a button on your pants, or wear something with an oddly placed rip or stain.  Like today's weather, they'll worry about a chill in the morning, but in time realize that you are still warm and sunny.

Double-Headed Disco is doing double duty hosting double birthday drinks/affairs for Michael Ventolo and Paul Vitale. The theme is Solid Gold and - being that these kids know how to use a prop - I'm bettin' there'll be gold-plated train/tunnel action for two for your NERVE!  (10pm, Nowhere Bar)

Feeling patriotic thinking of all those seamen? I have no doubt ONE of the dozen+ dancers at P3LIGRO tonight will be sporting a flag g-string. It's nearly a given! So what if it's a PUERTO RICAN flag? It'll be stirring (Note I never said your heart) regardless. (10pm, Element)

• Malcolm McLaren's death this week sent me down the Wiki rabbit hole after details of his life and others of his ilk. There, I learned a lot more about Jayne County ("Legendary!" was the previous extent.) that only increased my respect for her. I'll leave you to trace the degrees of separation, but a weekend long event at the Chelsea Hotel is named in her honor and is displaying some of her artwork. (Friday - Sunday, Chelsea Hotel - Opening event at 8pm on Friday)
• Speaking of queer rock and post-punk...QxBxRx may be showcasing the next wave this weekend? (Saturday, 10pm, Cake Shop)
• Girlfriend Greg Lockard and co-creator Mike DiMotta are debuting their new comic book  "Miss Thing Werk" at the Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art Fest 2010 this weekend. Hi-larious! Congrats, boys! (Saturday & Sunday, 11am-6pm, 69th Regiment Armory)

She changed the national perception of First Ladies in her short tenure, making them more human and approachable. Further, she held socially moderate or even liberal views, sometimes to the consternation of the conservative members of her husband's party. Some say she was more influential in the long term than the President.
