For your morning history lesson, please enjoy the above. The Queen was a documentary of a 1967 drag pageant. Featuring names you may know (Flawless Sabrina, Crystal LaBeija, International Chrysis), the film is difficult to find, but finding and patching together the movie via YouTube gives one a feel for the action. (YouTuber "clamarama" was the source for the above and two other good clips.) The clip above is toward the finale, where Crystal LaBeija calmly reacts to not being in the top three finalists and gently suggests that the winners are perhaps part of a pre-arranged outcome.
